inspecting and regulating the Navy, bear date June 23, xvi. 1618Charles Earl of Nottingham being Lord High Admiral of England.
The aforesaid commission of the navy was, with three books of proposi-tions made by the said commissioners, and annexed thereunto, renewed byKing James, Feb. 12, in the same year, the D. of Buckingham being then lordhigh admiral. That person retained the office till his death, March 27, 1625,and on the 4th day of June following, was again confirmed by K. Charles,with some addition as well as change in the persons, viz.

This was finally revoked, May 2, in the 4th of K. Charles, 1628, and the
following officers readmitted. Namely,

Comptroller, Sir Guildford Slingsby, Clerke of Acts, Mr. Fleming.
Succeeded by Sir Henry Vane—Sir Henry Palmer—Sir George Carteret SirRichard Slingsby—Sir Joseph Mennes—Sir William Batten—Mr. Llutch-ingson—Mr. Edgeborow—Mr. Barlow—Mr. Pepys.
The
