Abate out of the 5th yeare’s charge the whole medium ofbuilding and furnishing two shipps, being jT.1 1,800 1 is. 6d.and there remaineth £.x 8,946 Yf j. i id But‘to this sumadd againe the supplys of cordage to bee made^ yearely formoareing these 1 o’shipps, being 21 l . 12'.'3?.' which at £.30per ton, cometh to £.‘649 2 s. 6d. and then the staplecharge to remaine yearely for the whole navy of 30 royallshipps, is, for ordinary waiges and victualls, for reparationsof shipps, and supplys of stoares - 19,595 x 4 5
Besides what may bee further saved in the munition and victualls, for wantof time wee have reserved to farther consideration.
Yet in all this frugallity, wee have not neglected (as your Honours mayobserve) the honour and royalty of our prince and his sendee, but have to thatend projected increase of waiges, makeing new dockes, maintayning all pro-visions at the highest proportion, repaireing, building, and furnishing of allthe shipps, soe as they may no more appeare to straingers, or others, as wrecks,or as empty or ruinous houses, but in their compleat equipage, ready prepairedto sett out against the enemy upon every alarum or corrfand from the state.
But w th all wee must confesse, that wee have only shaped a body or image,(as it were) that hath neither life or motion till it bee given by Ma ty , by esta-blishing such a governement in the navy, whereby^that which is profittablypropounded may faithfully, understanding^, and deligently bee put in execution.For our parte, not fndeing how to proceed soe farr either upon the presentstate of things there, or by the extent of our coirfission, wee leave that and allour services to his Ma" good pleasure and comandement.
