Spain had been no less energetic, as it will appear by the list subjoined;for of fifty-one ships of the line including thole of fifty guns which hermarine consisted of in 1759, together with forty-three frigates or vessels of infe-rior description; thirty-four ships of the line, with nineteen frigates or inferiorvessels, were then either building, and nearly completed, or had been launchedsubsequent to the year 1750*. A very singular and striking circumstance
