Experiment I.

Barytes changes Hue vegetable colours green.

Let fall into a wine glass full of distilled water, renderedslightly blue by the admixture of tincture of cabbage, a fewgrains of barytes. The blue colour of the fluid will instantlybe converted into a lively green.

Experiment II.

Barytes changes red vegetable colours violet.

If in a similar manner to water rendered red by tincture ofbrazil wood, a small quantity of barytes be added, the red colourwill be changed into a violet.
