This Work forms a complete Scientific, Historical, and Illustrated Record of tlic Great Exhibition of 1851.It lias been prepared with care from the descriptions of their own articles furnished by the Exhibitors them-selves, with the assistance of a considerable number of men of science, eminent in the different departmentsembraced by the Thirty Classes into which the Exhibition is arranged. It is in addition furnished with alarge number of Illustrations of the most interesting and important objects of art and industry.

The Catalogue comprises extensive original Notes and Papers on various subjects, which are intended tocommunicate to it a value enduring beyond the period occupied by the Exhibition itself, and to render itpermanently interesting to readers of all classes.
