To the Right Honourable
LORD VISCOUNT BROUNCKER,
PRESIDENT OF
THE ROYAL SOCIETY.
My Lord,
I Have, in obedience to your Lordship, and the irresistible suffragesof that Society over which you preside, resigned these Papers to bedisposed of as you think fit. I hear your Lordship’s sentence is, theyshould be made public. Why should not a thousand things of infinitelymore value, daily enriching their collection, (and which would better
justify the laudable progrefs of that Alsembly) be oftener produced, assome of late have been ? This, my Lord, would obviate all unkindobjections, and cover the infirmities of the present Discourse, withthings indeed worthy our Institution. But, as I am to obey your Lord-ship’s commands, so both your Lordship and the Society, are accountablefor publishing the imperfections of,
My Lord,
Your Lordship’s and
Their most obedient Servant,
