discovered, that the motion of light, combinedwith the motion of the earth, produces an ap-parent difference in the places of the fixed stars;and as this motion is found to affect: all the starsdifferently, according to their situations, such asimilarity of variations is sufficient to justify thetruth of the cause upon which they were sup-posed to depend, and to shew that the system ofthe world, as restored by Copernicus, is con-formable to nature and the order of things.
