[A very large amount of ingenuity has been expendedon the attempt to apply the electro-magnetic force tomechanical purposes, in the room of prune movers. Theexperiments hitherto made have yielded hopeful but fewpractical results; and several instruments are exhibitedwhich represent the various modes in which the prin-ciples of motion from the electro-magnetic agency havebeen applied. The practicability of obtaining motioncannot be denied, but its comparative economy is still tobe demonstrated.—B. E.]
