[The Swedish iron and steel has long been esteemed;and in this series we have exhibited all the conditions towhich that superiority is due. The magnetic iron ore isfurnished by nature in abundance. In England this oreis only known to occur in two localities—one near Penryn,in Cornwall ; and the other on Dartmoor, in Devonshire .This, and the use of charcoal and wood in the smeltingprocesses, appears to be the chief cause of the excellenceof the iron of Sweden.—R. II.]
