APPENDIX No. ir.
articles, and the Pormits to romovo articles will be dated accordingly. If an Exhibitor fail toremove his goods within the period assigned to him, his articles must remain until the turnfor their removal again arrives.
101. Whatever aid tho Executive Committoo maybe able to give in the removal of thoArticles, is to be considered as auxiliary only to tho arrangements made by the Exhibitorsthemselves for the removal of their own articles, and tho Exhibitors or their agents shouldtlioreforo bring with them forco sufficient to ensure tho security and safe and speedy removalof their goods.
102. Among so many thousand Exhibitors, and so great a variety of articles, it will obviouslybo impossible to identify ovory labourer employed by Exhibitors with the articles which homay claim to be employed in packing ; and although every care will bo taken to prevent errorsand losses, still it must bo clearly understood that no responsibility for losses rests with thoRoyal Commissioners or Executive Committee ; and that it rests entirely with tho Exhibitorsthemselves. Tho Executive Committoo particularly recommend every Exhibitor or his agentto attend as early as possible and make duo arrangements to insure the proper security andremoval of his articles ; and it is suggested that it will bo prudent that at every importantstall tho Exhibitors should appoint a trustworthy person always to remain in chargo of hisarticles until they are finally removed.
163. Tho Executive Committee think it right to repeat, for tho information of Exhibitors, tho following decisions of Her Majesty’s Commissioners, dated May, 1800 : (See Decisions,12, 13, 21, 61).
Due notice was accordingly given respecting all packing-cases which tho Exhibitors neglectedto take away before tho opening, and consequently the Executive Committee did notundertake the charge of any packing-cases whatever.
164. The conveniences for packing in tho Building aro limited, and can only bo provided incertain parts of it, and if performed in the Building, must entail delay, and all those casualtiesconsequent on delay. Exhibitors aro therefore particularly recommended in all casoH, whoreit may be possible, to remove light and valuable articles without repacking them in thoBuilding. It is desirable, to prevent accidents, that all small glass cases should be removedwithin the three first days namely—16th, 17th, anil 18th October.
165. In order to givo tho utmost accommodation to Exhibitors who dosiro to take advantageof tho advice contained in tho preceding paragraph, no packing-cases can bo allowed to bointroduced into the Building until Monday tho 20th October.
166. All packing-casos must be brought to tho West end, and bo marked with tho Exhibitor’sname and the Class and Number to which they belong, or they will not be admitted withintho Building. 1’aoking-casos left empty for more than forty-eight hours will be liable to betaken out of tho Building.
167. As tho removal of articles cannot bo dolayed to an indefinite poriod, and as manyarticles may possibly bo left unclaimed, a final day for removing articles will be fixed by publicadvertisement. All articles left remaining in tho Building after such notice has been givenwill be appropriated as tho Commissioners may direct, and if sold, the proceeds will be appliedto the general funds.
