O F all the late Attempts to undermine orto corrupt Christianity , none seems ■ tohave been of more direU ill Consequencethan the late new Text and Verfion of theNew Testament . Other Authors have mis-represented the Grounds and Reasons of our Re-ligion , and much vain Cavil has been madeagainst its Fundamental Doctrines in all whichCafes honest Minds have still received Satis-faUion by proper Appeals to the Sacred Recordsthemselves , in an English Translation , whichis in the Main of unquestionable Fidelity . Rutthe new Interpreter has made the Scripturesthemselves speak to their own ’Disparagement jand by certain Arts of Leger de Main in Ver-fion ^ has conveyed away most of the Testimoniesfor the disputed Articles of our Faith. So thatan unlearned ‘Person must be confirmed in Heresy or Infidelity, rather than cured , if he be sounhappy as to take his Measures of Truthfrom this new Standard. And yet whilst theHands of the Teamed have . been employed a-gainst those who trouble the Streams of Keligon ,
