10. So also has Emanuel Calecas, a Greek Wri-ter, who flourished Anno 1360.
11. The Complutensian Edition of the GreekTestament, Anno 15x5, has the Text of 1 John
T. 7-
ii. The third Edition of the Greek Testamentby Erasmus , Anno 1522, has it also.
13. So has Robert Stephens' s first Edition, Anno1546.
14. As likewise his third Edition, Anno 1550^.
As to ancient Versions that contain this Pastage,
the Annotator is wholly silent. Whose wilful De-fect, I must here supply, as I did under the lastHead.
Firjl then if we should affirm that the Text ofthe three Witnesses in Heaven, was in the old Ita-lic Version, which universally prevailed before Je-rom, and generally for some Ages after him, weshould have more Probability on our Side, than ourAdversary who boldly maintains the contrary. Forthere is no MS. of that Version now extant, thattakes in the Catholic Epistles . And for Latin Fa-thers, who cited from that Version, we have posi-tive Testimonies, that they found the Pastage intheir Copies, whereas his Evidence for the contra-ry is merely negative.
Secondly, Jerom's Vulgar or the old Italic, re-formed according to the best Copies ok his Time, has the Pastage.
t The sVcond Edition of Robert Stephens, printed Anno 1549,has also the disputed Passage. But I forbear to reckon it, be-cause it is not an original Edition, made upon a new Collationof MSS. but entirely conformable to his first Edition, printedthree Years before.
