It is said to liave come from the Alhambra, and if so, must have formed part ofthe restorations made to that building by Charles V. Dimensions 6 in. by 5| in.

24. Pilgrims Bottle, of Italian majolica, finely painted with battle scenesin the style of Orazio Fontana. Date about 1550. Height 1 foot 1 in.

25. An Ewer, of black glazed pottery, probably Venetian, with coloureddecorations and gilding not burnt in; they consist of a shield, three clubs in bendbetween two stars, with a rose on each side. Engraved in Choice Examples of ArtWorkmanship, (Cundall, 1851). Height 11 1 in.

26. Blue earthenware Ewer, of quaint form, with ornaments in white andyellow. Probably made at Fevers between 1650 and 1680, the period to whichspecimens of this kind are referred by M. du Broc de Segange (Faience de Fevers).Engraved in Choice Examples of Art Workmanship, and in Marryats History ofPottery and Porcelain, 3rd edition, p. 114. Height 9 in.

27. Ewer, of tortoiseshell earthenware, with a sharp spout and twistedhandle, ascribed to a fabric at or near Avignon. Height 9 in.

28. Flask-shaped Bottle, of Venetian ruby glass, with vertical flutings,similar to the specimen described above, Fo. 743. It has a metal foot and stopper.Height 10§ in. Presented to the British Museum in 1851.

29. A similar Flask to the last. Presented to the Museum of PracticalGeology in 1851.

30. A Tazza Wine-Glass, with a twisted stem and frosted bowl. Similar toFo. 702, Fig. 220. Height 8 in. Presented to the British Museum in 1851.

31. An Ewer and Cover, of white Venetian glass, with reticelli ornament,somewhat similar in form to Fo. 621, Fig. 185. Height 9 in. Presented to theBritish Museum in 1851.

ORIEFTAL WORKS OF ART.

32. A Chinese Ornament, carved in grey chalcedony, representing a boywith a dog on his shoulders. Height 2| in.

33. A Japanese Box, of gold-coloured lacquer, of an oval form, and dividinginto five compartments, made to hold various medicines, and connected by a cordpassing through the two ends of each. The subject represented on this case is arepresentation from a pantomime, known as Utsuboza.ru , representing a man seatedholding a monkey by a string, before whom is dancing a second man with amusical instrument. To the silken cord which passes through the sides of thecase is attached a button, or netsuge , intended to prevent it from slipping throughthe girdle. In this instance, the button is composed of enamel on copper,enclosing an ivory plate, with three masks in sunk relief; over the cord is passeda bright red lacquered bead.

34. An ivory Fetsuge, or Button, in the form of the mask or face of a demon,with budding horns. On the back is inscribed the sculptors name, To-mo-cliika.

35. Another, representing a lady, the Goddess of Riches, Ben-ten, with a fanand a scarf. It bears the same sculptors name as the last.

36. Another; a lady with a fan, and at her side a child, with a rabbit.

37. Another; a man seated, with disshevelled hair, and with chrysanthemumflowers in his lap; probably from Chinese history.
