certain celerity, or to stop that body movingwith that celerity (which is too evident to becontested from experience;) it is certain itmust require twice, thrice, four times, &c.that force; or one half, one third, one fourth,be. of it, to move the body with twice,thrice, four times, &c. that celerity; or withone half, one third, one fourth of it only,respectively; or to stop it moving with theserespective celerities,, since effects are propor-tional to their adequate causes: and thereforethat the body, or any multiple, or submul-tiple of it, makes the respective resistances,mentioned above, to be moved with thatcelerity, or with any multiple, or part of it;and that it makes equal resistances, whenmoving with these respective celerities, to. bebrought to rest again: and this with respectto all possible directions. To make the ar-gument in any one instance, suit in any o-ther, it requires but to take equal multiples,or equal parts, of cause and effect, force im-presied and resistance made. If the immate-riality of the soul , the existence of God , andthe necefjity of a most particular, incef antprovidence in the world, are demonstrable fromsuch plain and easy principles , the Atheisthath a desperate cause in hand .
