A FTER what has been said, it might notperhaps be improper to examine thearguments that are generally brought to stieWthe materiality of the foul, or the objectionsAgainst its being immaterial, upon whichour prejudices make us lay great stress; fo sthough when a thing is once proved true,we need not much concern ourselves withwhat is said against it, since there cannot becontrary truths j yet (as hath been latelywell observed) since objections founded up-on prejudice gain easy admittance, and fewwords serve to make them understood, hwill not be amiss to take notice of these :but this may be done with more ease andclearness a little farther on. Wherefore thatwe may the better understand the nature ofthe human foul, let us next consider the con-sequences
