Ithath been demonstrated by an unexception-able hand, that a very moderate quantity ofmatter might fill the whole sphere of Sa-turn, and not leave a vacuity above that of20 assigned diameter (n).

XV. The last disadvantage the soul laboursunder, from the present constitution of thebody, is' that it perceives external things buta few ways, and by a few inlets, or passagesof the body: but what hath been already saidmay be easily applied here. It is no betterargument against the possibility of more waysof perceiving external objects than five , be-cause there are but five, than it would havebeen against the possibility of more than oneor two, if there had been but one or two; orbecause some creatures may have but one ortwo. If an animal body had been contrivedwhich should have been all over one commonsensory to the mind lodged within ; nonewould have excepted against the possibilityofsuchabody: and it is no argument against
