As also, if it su*per-exist; it is easier to conceive that it must have som®kind of activity, than to determine what that is; f° rthough it hath the power of moving the body, it haththen no occasion to exercise that power. And in thisrespect also it is much inferior to the human foul; thoughthat doth not impress a greater motive force on the mat-ter of the body, yet it impresses it in consequence osreflection, and therefore on a thousand different occasi-ons, in which the brute-soul is unconcerned. It seemsrather to move the body in consequence of sensation?or of being first acted upon, and hath not so much th®principle of action in itself. But all this will be betterunderstood hereafter.
