(d) I would here observe in general, That if an ob-jection is not clogged with a contradiction, one maylisten to it; but if the objection itself is contradictory,a man cannot propose it as an objection, but by think-ing that contradictions may be true; in which cafe heis incapable of an answer; for to him then truth itselfmay be impossibility. If he is to be determined by rea-son therefore, he should think first with respect to hisown objection, it cannot be true nor real, since it infersa contradiction.
