In raising any Power by Wheel , Pulley ,Winch or Windlass to determine the re-jtjlance made by the PriSlion of their Pevets.
I N Plate the Ist let Figure Ist represent alarge loaded Wheel whose Weight orPressuie on its Pevets (at b and c) 1 sup-pose to be 2000 or a Tun; whereby thesaid Wheel is in a manner held fast at thebearing Lines of the said Pevets, as by a Powerequal to 2000 pound weight, which Powerlying in the Surface of the Axis, cannot bebalanced by any other Power acting in thefame Surface (endeavouring to turn the Axis)under 2000 pound before the bearing Linesof the Pevets will begin to yield or to turn• out of their station to give place to newbearing Lines, at which time the Axis willbear on one side of the Groove or Passagethe Wheel turns in (on one of its FulcrumLines sr or q which Fulcrums are alwayson the sides of the Pevets at the distanceof a Quadrant from the bearing Lines) at therate of full 2000 pound; so, that if the famePower as beforementioned is at any greater
