Dr. Clanny’s insulated lamps have been usedin any of the mines where these dreadfulaccidents have occurred, as a theoretical know-ledge of their construction strongly suggeststheir great utility in preventing explosionsfrom inflammable air, &c.’
tc My lamp has not been employed in anyof the mines in which these dreadful accidentshave happened, and I have much pleasure instating that no accident can occur when it isUsed in the manner directed: nor is this theo-retical ; for more than half a dozen of the firstphilosophers of the present age have seen thelamp experimented upon with inflammableair, and have observed that there was notthe slightest chance for explosions occurring inthose mines where it is used. Of course I donot consider myself at liberty to publish theirnames, but shall leave them with you, Mr.Editor, for your satisfaction.
