State, observing their dipping, heading, &c.Thirdly , We must see in what Mannerthe Minerals that comes under our Handswere found, whether in Veins, Beds, &c.whether on the Top or Sides of the Moun-tain, deep in the Ground, or near the Sur-face, and in what Manner they ate joinedto the different Strata of other Bodies; thussingle Veins and Beds of particular Mine-rals are examined in Minerology, but inSubterranean Geography we must not stophere, all Mineral and Metalline Rakes ofwhole Mountains, comes under our In-spection, each and every one is carefully tobe examined ; to do which effectually, wemust diligently observe in what Manner itjoins to the other Hills, that appear on theRight and Left, or on both Sides of it,weighing their Regularity or Irregularity,Contiguity and Resemblance to each other,the Situation of their Veins, in respect tothe Poles, is to be taken Notice of, whetherthey run East and West, or North andSouth, always placing the Meridian fromsome other rich Vein or Mineral Hill, notforgetting to take a View of the neigh-bouring and adjacent Vales and Dingles:after this is done, we must proceed to theEarth and Stone, for these require our At-tention, to see how they are closed andstratified ; all appearing Strings, by Slopeor Fall of Ground, must be taken Notice
