to exercise their Arithmetics^ in reducing the Sumsof Money , Weights and Measures mentiorid in theAuthor 5 to those os their own Country . And I willventure to affirm that any Touth who is nottaught after this manner , is in some measuredeceived .
The Reader will find a great many Passages no-ted in the following Treatise 5 os which without thisKnowledge he can neither understand the Terms norPhraseology . It is in some measure necessary toexplain Poets-> Orators and Historians . But theLanguage of Manual Arts, Business > Traffick> &c.naturally obscure , is not intelligible without it .I believe I need not advertise the Reader that in aWork of this Nature it is impossible to avoid Pueri-lities , Trifles , and joyning things naturally incoherent,it having that in common with Di&ionaries andBooks of Antiquities .
The Faults (ofwhich lamfenstble there are a greatmany) are in some measure owing to my want of Lei-sure .
