Beam stanchions. —To be provided where necessary.
Spar-deck Stringers. —Of plate iron 36 inches by inch amidships, taper-ing to 27 inches by A| inch at ends, with angle iron 3 inches by 4 y 2 inchesby T 9 ¥ inch all round the ship.
Main-deck stringers. —Of plate iron 42 inches by y inch amidships,tapering to 31 y inches by AJ. inch at ends, fitted to skin with a 5-inchby 4^2-inch by j?g-inch angle iron rivetted to skin and Stringers, and acontinuous bar 5 inches by 4 y inches by T 9 F inch carried all round the shipinside of the frames.
Lower-deck Stringer. —Of plate iron 31 inches by A^-inch all round theship, with an angle iron 5 inches by 4 y inches by inch.
Bilge stringer. —To be formed of two bars of angle iron 5 inches by4 y 2 inches by inch, rivetted back to back, and to double reverse barsplaced between the bilge keelson and lower-deck stringer.
Deck ties. —On spar deck to be 14 inches by inch; on main and lowerdeck, 14 inches by A§- inch, placed on each side of hatchways.
Bulkheads. —Four water-tight bulkheads to be carried up to main deckof T 7 7 -inch plate iron, stiffened with 3j4-inch by 3-inch by y 2 - inch angleiron, and fitted with two sluice valves to each, worked from main deck.
Outside plating. —Garboard strakes, inch; bottom, A§ inch; sides,y} inch and inch; main shear double, y length, A§ inch.
Rudder . —Stock, 7)4 inches diameter, with 4-inch pintles 3J4 inchesdiameter, the frame all welded in one piece, and plated with T \-inch plates;to have a stuffing box on deck, and to be fitted with a screw-steeringapparatus and two steering wheels.
Riväting. —The whole of the rivetting to be as per Lloyd’s Rules, of thebest material and workmanship.
Water tanks. —To contain 3000 gallons, with plumbing work complete.
Coal bunkers. —To suit arrangement with engine.
Wood work. — Waterways of main deck and spar deck to be formed ofteak, as per Lloyd’s, and well secured by bolts and nuts.
The Decks shall be of sound yellow pine, free from objectionable knots,strakes, or defects. The spar deck, 5 inches by 3 inches; main deck,6 inches by 4 inches, securely bolted with galvanized bolts and nuts, anddowelled; teak plank to be laid for capstans, Stoppers, riding bitts, whereeye bolts have to be fixed, and in ränge of chain cable. The space belowbeams under capstan to be filled in solid, and lined with 2-inch elm plank.
Hatch combings. —To be of oak or teak 4 inches thick, and protected withgalvanized iron.
