Thefecond book of the Atlantica was publiflied in 1689. The dedication to CharlesXI. and the preface fill feven pages ; at the end of the book four pages are refervedfor the emendata, as well of the firft as the fecond volume. The table of contents forthe two volumes fills thirty-fix cyphered pages.
It is commonly at the beginning of the fecond volume, that the opinions of differentlearned men on this work of Rudbeck are colleded. In the copy in my poffefiion it til'sthirty-eight pages, fifteen of them in fmall type, in double columns: at the head is afort of preface, figned H. Z. that is to fay, Heitrig, an officer in the guards, afterwardsennobled under the narno of Riddarfliern, a man well verfed in the hiftory and antiqui-ties of Sweden. VP. Salani nota ad Egilli et Afmundi hijloriam. Upfal, 1693, in 4 t0,p. 160.
This cohesion was alfo printed feparately, at Frankfort, in folio, in 1692, under thefollowing title: “ Judicia et teftimonia illuftriuin atque clariffimorum virorum de cele-berrimi Sueonis Olavi Rudbeckii (Senioris) median ac profefforis I'pfalenfis Atlantica, aliifque incomparabilis ingenii Rudbeckiani monumentis. Recufa Francoforti juxta ex-emplar Upfalenfe, anno MDCXCII.” (1692.)
As the advertifement to the printer, at the head of this collection, contains fome lite-rary particularities, I fhall copy the whole of it; it is conceived in the following terms :
“ Admonitiuncula typographica ad lederom benevolum.
