TO THE RIGHT HONORABLE
EDWARD J. LITTLETON,
MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR THE COUNTY OF STAFFORD,
Ac. Ac-
Sir,
To be allowed to dedicate this series of my Domestic Architecture to soardent an admirer and so intelligent a judge of the fine arts generally, is afavour I should not have ventured to solicit, did I think the Work itselfwould not be found in some degree to excuse the freedom on my part, and thecompliance on yours. I was also partly influenced to do so by recollecting theshare you took in the ceremony of laying the foundation stone of West lirom-wich Church, the first public structure of the kind erected by me.
This portion of my publication has certainly had more than equal studyand attention bestowed upon it than the first. And if for no other reason, itmay, perhaps, acquire some interest in your eyes from its containing the designsof a Mansion lately erected in that part of the liritish Empire where you nowhold so important and so arduous a post.
