_A_S it is satisfactory to many, to know the positive extent of cost of an in-tended structure, desirous not to exceed a limited sum j the place of in-tended erection being known, the plans, elevations, and degree of elegancewithin, being settled, Mr. Malton would furnifh an estimate of the cost thatwould be incurred in Building not only any design of this collection, but anyother design of his he might make ; and would enter into contract for the.just execution thereof,, agreeably to the estimate furnished.*
Or Mr. Malton will furnish designs merely, with executive drawings,,properly explained, and dimensions affixed, whereby, under the eye of anintelligent employer, an ordinary Builder, resident at or near the spot,, shall be:enabled to carry the same into execution.
From his acquaintance with the various styles of architecture, Mr. Malton,,will alter any sound old building, to any particular style desired, that it maybe capable of being converted to j or he will extend any structure, strictlykeeping, if desired, to the original style of construction ; which connec-tion, from a thirst to display novelty of invention, rather than conformto the lead given, not being always attended to, additions to old mansionsare often made, totally incongruous in style, defective in just harmony offparts, and destructive of all picturesque effect. Persons residing at a dis-tance from London , sending him plans and elevations, with dimensionsaffixed, and information of what alterations or additions are desired, shall:be attended to, with every regard to fulfil their wifhes, at the least possibleexpense.
* This he also will do of any ofhis designs for Cottages, See. given in his work on British RusticCofs--tage Architecture.
