THE BERNINA PASS AND THE FORCOLA TO LIVIGNOS our rooms at Le Prese had a southern aspect,

On Monday morning, clouds were scudding about,but the sky was clear, and the fresh snow whichmantled the higher summits and streaked the rockyridges, told of the recent storm which had now appa-rently expended itself. It was probable that theweather would settle fine again after such a disturb-ance, and we saw no reason to alter our deter-mination to undertake another mountain walk. Theprovisions here were so good that we did not forgetto order the-basket to be well filled for us to carryaway. The bread, which was excellent, we nowfound was brought from Poschiavo , and as thefresh morning supply had not yet arrived, we wereadvised to stop, and procure some en passant)
