The first salt mentioned in these two analyses, the Urate ofAmmonia, is a compound of Ammonia with Uric acid : a peculiarorganic acid, which is formed in the urine of many animals.
G.—COMPOSITION OF THE URINE OF THE COW.
The composition of cows’ urine, and the changes which itundergoes when suffered to putrify, either alone or mixed withwater, are shown in the following table. Urea is a peculiarorganic substance containing a large proportion of nitrogen,which is found in fresh urine. Benzoic and Lactic acids areorganic acids, consisting of cai’bon, oxygen, and hydrogen.
