No. 3 Four-Side

Eight- and Nine-Inch Patent Molding Machine.

With Steel Slotted Heads, Tour Driven Feed-Hollers, Outside Bearing, etc.

This machine is the next larger size of our series of Holders illustrated herein. It is substantial and well built in every part, and is strongly recommended forall general work within its capacity. Two sizes are made to work 8" and 9" wide, and upon all four sides of material at once. The frame is long to give sufficientlength to the belts. The arbors for the cutter-heads are made of crucible steel,lead-ground; and the bearings self-oiling and lined with the choicest grade ofanti-friction metal.

The heads are slotted to allow the use of any kind of cutters. The underhead and side heads are mounted upon the bed, and rise and fall with it. Theybave an independent vertical adjustment to suit different work. The side headscan be set to varying angles, and moved across the bed while in motion, fromthe working side.

Adjustable moutli-pieces are fitted to the bed for reducing the size of theopening around the head for specially fine work. A movable, detachable outsidebearing is mounted on an upright column extending to the floor, so that thebed can be raised or lowered without danger of its springing, affording a solidsupport for the outer end of the main arbor in heavy work. The main and sidearbors are 1 T V 7 where the heads are received.

The bed is gibbed to the frame, and raised and lowered by a hand-wheel atthe side, in a convenient position to the operator, and where he is free from danger°f contact with the cutters. It has a lock attachment for retaining securely inPosition when set. The feed is of a very positive and powerful character, con-sisting of two sectional spur rollers above and two smooth rollers in the bed,a ll connected and driven by a train of expansion gearing.

The bed will lower and take in 16" material without change in the gears. The upper feed-rolls are hung in swinging frames, and always raise parallel withthe material being worked. By simply raising the weighted lever they can belifted from the work to stop the feed or allow the material to be withdrawnwithout stopping the machine. It has two speeds of feed, 25' and 35' per minute.

The pressure-bar and bonnet are combined, and can be swung entirely awayfrom the upper head, permitting ready access to the cutters. Full sets of wrenches, springs, pressure-blocks, etc., are sent with each machine.

The tight and loose pulleys are 10" x 6", and should make 1,000 revolutions.
