Solid Milled Sash, Door , and Blind-Cutters.
The J. A. Fay & Co. Solid Milled Sash, Blind, Door , and Bead-Cutters are formedhy milling into the face of the steel the profile of the mold instead of beveling theedge and then cutting the shape of the molding in the bevel. In the latter methodthe form of the mold is liable to be changed when sharpening the cutter.
The form of the molding made by the solid milled cutter can never be changed.'The profile being correctly milled with clearance, properly grinding the bevel is allthat is required. The cutters are placed on the head with the bevel towards the work.As the cut comes very nearly at right angles to the surface it forms a scraping cut,and leaves a perfect surface for finishing.
The cutters being made in this peculiar style are much more easily set than theold form of molding cutters, and their durability is greater, the methods of sharpen-ing them being much more accurate.
