Radial Two-Spindle Chair-Borer.
With Movable Spindle and Adjustable Table.
This machine will bore two holes at once. It is designed for chair andcabinet-makers, for boring the dowel holes in chair-seat frames, and other workwhere the holes are to be bored at regular distances apart. It is built upon asubstantial column. The boring spindles are fitted with gun-metal boxes, andmounted in a cylindrical frame having an opening upon one side to the center,with a projecting plate extension for receiving the boring spindles.
The center spindle is rigidly fixed; the other is gibbed to a sliding plate,and has an independent adjustment to regulate the distance apart of the holes.Both are radially adjustable, and can be set to bore from 1 " to 6 // apart atdifferent angles or points of the circle controlled by the frame.
The table is mounted on a bracket which is gibbed to the face of the col-umn. The movement horizontally is by hand. It is also vertically adjustableby screw and hand-wheel. Thei'e is a stop to regulate the depth to be bored,and gauges for special work can be applied to the table. Two %" bits are sentwith each machine.
The pulleys are and should make 800 revolutions.
