My dear Sir,

The Lords of the Admiralty have directed me, in theirletter of October the 22nd, to signify to you, and the Officersand Men under your command, the very high sense theyentertain of your very meritorious services on the severalimportant occasions to which your letters relate, as also of theseveral Officers and Men whose conduct you have particularlymentioned. And their Lordships also inform me, that aCommission is prepared for promoting Lieutenant Canes 51 tothe rank of Commander.

It gives me real pleasure to communicate these orders ofthe Board, and nothing shall be wanting on my part to rewardthe merits of those who distinguish themselves; for believeme, dear Sir, your faithful friend,
