Three brigades of Sappers employed in generalsupervision.

Six Sappers, 50 men, making a wall and traversein the Quarries .
One Sapper, 50 men, draining the Right approachesfrom the 21-gun battery.
One Sapper, 15 men, forming a cesspool in theRight approach from battery No. 19 ; three Sappers,50 men, forming banquette, &c., in fifth parallel;one Sapper, 30 men, revetting No. 19 battery ; twoSappers, 20 men, in the communication n frombattery No. 19, to wells, &c. ; three Sappers assentries.
2d Relief.

The enemy kept up a heavy fire during the after-noon, particularly when our own batteries openedfire. The men working in the Quarry batteries werethus interrupted, and had two casualties amongst the30 ; but everywhere else the fire of the enemycaused no difference to the working parties.
I must bring to your notice that if measures arenot taken for preventing the guards of the trenchesfrom sticking their bayonets, muskets, and sticks
