Bei der freien Bewegung des Verkehrs in den Verei-nigten Staaten entstehen und liquideren die Banken auch"ach der großen Krisis von 1842 eben so leicht wie früher.Sie sind ein Bedürfniß. Allerdings bestehe» diejenigen aus-dauernd, die ein solides Geschäft betreiben und ihren Ge-winn nicht in maßloser Ausgabe von Papiergeld suchen,sondern darin ein Verhältniß zur vorräthigen BaarschaftWalten, das sie vor Verlegenheit in Baarzahlungen schützt.Namentlich zeichneten sich darin bis jetzt, seit langer Zeit,
die Banken des Staates Missouri aus. Daher sind ihreGeschäfte sicher und gewähren Gewinn. So hatte dieStaatsbank mit den Zweigbanken am 31. Decbr. 1843:4,29»,333, 39.
