of the preceding Cases, that the values of k, /, &c. can fromthence be determined, without a prodigious deal of trouble.There are indeed various other means of trying these quantities,by assuming some of them, and finding the others from thence;and so proceeding on, changing the values continually, till allthe conditions of the several equations, arising from the com-parison of the homologous terms, are fulfilled. But as this isexceedingly laborious, and seeing after all, the use of so greatreductions (as the sagacious Author himself observes) is verylittle, there not being, perhaps, one cafe in a thousand inwhich they can succeed; I shall, therefore, desist here.
