Several Lucani, from Sylhet , have been described by Hope (Trans . Linn.Soc. xix, p. 104): Hexaphyllus Parryi, and Odontolabis Cuvera, which arerecognizable from their being figured; the others, Od. Baladeva, BorcusWestermanni, Dehaanii, Lucanus Brahminus, Buddha, are but scantily de-scribed. Upon what the first two above-named genera, Hexaphyllus andOdontolabis, are founded is not stated; the former, according to the figure,has six, and the latter three antennal plates. Hope has given in the Trans .Ent. Soc. iii, a figure of his Lucanus Burmeisteri, from the Mysore .

TenebbioN-ES.E rodites. A new species of Zophosis, from Angola , hasbeen described by the Reporter (1. c.)

Tentyrites.A new genus, Gnophota, with three species; further, 1 newspecies of Mesostena, and 2 species of Oxycara, from Angola (the last, how-ever, probably from the Cape de Verd Islands), have been already published,id. (Ib.)

Macropodites.Guerin (Rev. Zool. p. 261) has characterized AdesmiaLangii, Erichs. (1. c.), 1 Stenocara, and 2 Metriopus, from Angola , as newspecies.

Eurychorites.Erom the same locality are also, 1 new species each, ofBurychora, Pogonobasis, Psaryphis ; the last genus is new, and contains alsoa second undescribed species, from the Cape.

Praocites.Also from Angola , a new, remarkably large species of Cryp-tochile.

Molurites.Prom the same locality one new species of Moluris.

Blapid®.Mannerheim (Bull. Mosc. p. 266) has enumerated 17 speciesof Eleodes, from California , seven of which are new; of these, B. gigantea,sulcipemis, pimeloides, are also figured in Guerin (Mag. de Zool. 1843, pi.127-129), E. grandicollis (ib. 1844), and E. reflexicollis, producta, intrioata,provisionally described with detailed diagnoses.

Waterhouse ( Ann . Nat. Hist, xii, p. 258) has described three new speciesof Gyriosoma, viz. G. Bridgesii, marmeratus, elongatus, all from the neigh-bourhood of Coquimbo.

The Reporter (1. c.) has instituted two new genera, Drosochrus, with onespecies from Angola , and two from the Cape; and Stizopus, nearly allied toGonopus, Heteroscelis, Latr., and Blenosia, Lap., with a new species fromAngola .

Opatridse.The Pauna of Angola has afforded here also, two newgenera, Ammidium and Emmalus, each with one new species; further, eight spe-cies of Opatrum, of which some are more widely distributed in Africa , and somehave been lately proved to be indigenous to the Cape de Verd Islands, as 0.melanarium, and cequale. Probably also, 0. tenebricosum, patruele, prolixum,virgatum, will have to be banished from the Pauna of Angola , as having beencollected in the Island of St. Vincent.
