Motschoulsky lias given Carabus laxuriosus, from Mount Taurus.(Guer. Mag. Zool. Ins. pi. 151, fig. 3.)

Kollar and Redtenbacher (Hug. Kaschm. 498) have described, Cymin-dis i-maculata (pi. 23, f. 3), Carabus caschmirensis (f. 4), Chlanius janthi-nus, Calathms angustatus , Selenophorus quadricollis, from Cashmere , andFeronia (Omaseus ) himalejica, from Massuri , in the Himalaya .

Helluo ( Acanthogenius) asteriscus, White (Ann. Nat. Hist, xiv, 422) isfrom Hong Kong .

Reiche (Ann. Soc. Ent. Fr. ii, 391, pi. 7, f. 6, 5, 4) has given threeremarkable south African species, Craphipterus westwoodii , Anthia melly , andA. alveolata, all from Christmas Bay.

New American species are, Onypterygia thoreyi , Mannerh. (Bull. Mosc.869 note); Morio lafertei and Calosoma peregrinator, Guerin (Rev. Zool.254), from Mexico ; and Cordistes arcuatus and lafertei , Guer. (ibid. 9),from New Granada.

The last-named author (Mag. Zool. Ins. pi. 140) has figured Sphallomorphanitiduloides, a remarkable species from New Holland.

There remains to notice an article by Chaudoir (Bull. Mosc. 454.), Observations sur quelques especes de Carabiques, &c., which, besides thegenera specified above, comprehends a variety of new species of other groups :Drypta elongata, from Senegal (a variety of Dr. dorsalis, Dej.); Galeritapallidicornis, Reiche, macrodera, enquicollis, from Columbia; Calleida bicolorand erythrodera, from Senegal ; C. marginicollis, from the Cape; C. cyani-pennis, country not specified; C. interrupta and nigriceps, from Brazil ; G.elegam, Kl., from Cuba (distinguished from rubricollis, Dej.); Anthiaoxygona, from the Cape; Aristas punctulatus , from Syria . It is remarked

that Calleida splendida , Gory, is auricollis, Lap.,-and Cychrus inter-

ruptus , Men., from California , the true ventricosus, Esch., while the speciesto which the latter name is applied by Menetries is new, and here describedas C. striato-punctatus, that Anchomemis valutas, Lafert., belongs to thegenus Stenogmthus, Chaud., and Anch. micans, Men, to the genus Scaphio-dactylus, Chaudoir.

[Curtis (Royal Agric. Soc. Journ. v, 224) has communicated the obser-vation that Fterostichus madidus is a great destroyer of wireworms, thenoxious larvse of the Elateridse.]
