Liverpool, May 24th, 1841.

We, the undersigned, havingthis day witnessed the testingof one of Milners fire-resistingboxes, by its having been placedin a large fire consisting ofwood and upwards of six hun-dred-weight of coals, for thespace of two hours and twentyminutes, do hereby express ourconviction that the fire-resistingboxes manufactured by them, are a perfect security in allcases of ordinary fire. Thebox was filled with commercial

and other books, papers, parchments, and deeds, (one of which, ofthe 16 th Henry VIII. , had five large thick seals appended to it,)and, within an inch of the cover, several Bank of England notes ;and previously to being closed, were submitted to the examinationof J. S. Leigh, Esq., E. Frodsham, Esq., L. Graham, Esq., andothers present. The whole contents, on the box being taken outof the fire and opened in our presence, were found to be in aperfect state of preservation, the seals attached to the deed above-mentioned not being in the slightest degree injured. This certi-ficate is written on the deed of the 16 th Henry VIII . above-mentioned, which was submitted to the test.
