Such was the exemplary Courage, and resolute Behaviour of St. Paul andActs, chap, Silas in the Prison, towards the Magistrates of Philippi, when, " They sentxyu " their Serjeants, saying, Let those Men go." And the Keeper oj the Prison told

this Saying to Paul ; The Magijlrates have sent to let you go. But Paul saidunto them , " They have openly caft us into Prison uncondemnd, and now do" they thrust us out privily. Nay , verily ; but let them come themselves and" fetch us out.

He payd his last Debt to Nature, at Ely-House in Holbourn, London , onthe 24 th of April, in the Year 1667, aged 81, and upwards. His Bodywas conveyd to Cambridge , by the Heralds, with all decent Pomp andCeremony ; and deposited in a Stone Coffin in a Vault under his ownChapel; the Vice Chancellor, Heads of Colleges , and the whole Universttyattending the Solemnity of his Obsequies j and the very eminent and learn-ed Doctor John Pearson , then Master of Trinity-College , (afterwards Bishopof Chester,) made his Funeral Oration in Latin ; from a Manuscript ofwhich, the preceding Characters and other material Passages of his Life,(with some additional Memoirs interspersd) have been here transcribed.
