OCTOR Christopher Wren , Dean of Windsor , younger fs 0 ,E°IBrother of Matthew , Bishop of E/y, was born in the Year "" ren1589, and educated at St. John s College in Oxford ; wherein 1620, he took his Degree of Batchelor of Divinity ; be-came domestick Chaplain to Dr. Lancelot Andrews , Bishopof Winchejier , and by him preferred to the Rectory ofKnoyle Magna in the County of Wilts. In 1628. he wasa Ppointed Chaplain in Ordinary to King Charles the First ; in 1630, wasseated Doctor of Divinity at Qimhridge , (J'cil. ex ultroned & abundanti aca-Jmice gratia abfens evcStus) in 1635, by his Majestys special Appointment,e . succeeded his Brother Matthew , on his Advancement to the See of Nor-in the Deanries of Windsor and Woherhampton ; and the Office of Re-8ster of the most noble Order of the Garter ; and in 1638, was presented to Fasti Oxon.lile rich Rectory of Hasely in Oxsordflnre. f ' 3 '
