A Nother eminent Work, in a different Style of Architecture, was theReparation of the ancient Abbey-church of St. Peter , in Wejhninjler,prosecuted by the Surveyor, to the Time of his Death, the Space of 25Years, with all the Application, that the Branch of the Coal-duty given byParliament for that Purpose, would admit. A particular Account of whichwill be best understood from his own Words, in the following Memorial tothe Biihop of Rochejler , in the Year 1713.
" When I had the Honour to attend yourLordssiip to congratulate your Epis-copal Dignity, and pay that Respect which particularly concerned myself asemployed in the chief Direction of the Works and Repairs of the Collegiate-church of St. Peter in Weflminjlcr ; you was pleased to give me this season-able Admonition, that I should consider my advanced Age; and as I had al-ready made fair Steps in the Reparation of that ancient and ruinous Structure,you thought it very requisite for the publick Service, I should leave a Memo-rial of what I had done ; and what my Thoughts were for carrying on theWorks for the future.
