1585. whatsoever, growing or being made,within the said Country of Barbary, orwithin any the Dominions thereof, un-less it be, by and with the Licence,Consent, and Agreement of the saidEarls, Thomas Starkie , &c. or with theConsent and Licence of the more Partof them, then living, first had and ob-tained, so always that the said Earl ofLeicester (if he be living), be one, un-der the Pain that every one that shalloffend, or do against this our presentProhibition here last abovementioned,in these Presents, shall forfeit and loseall and singular the said Merchandizesto be landed in any Our Pvealmsand Dominions, contrary to the Tenorand true Meaning of this Our Prohibi-bition, in that Behalf provided, the oneMoiety of all and every which said For-feitures, whatsoever, mentioned or spe-cified in these Our present Letters Pa-tent, shall be to Us, Our Heirs an^Successors, and the other Moiety of atyand every the said Forfeitures, ( We do,by these Presents, of Our certain ’ Know-ledge and meer Motion, clearly andwholly, for Us, Our Heirs and Succes-sors, give and grant, unto the saidEarls,kThomas Starkie, Lee. and these OurLetters Patent upon the only Sightthereof, without any farther Warrant,shall be sufficient Authority to OurTreasurer of England, for the Timebeing, to Our Barons of the Exche-quer, and to all other Our Officers, thatshall have to deal in this Behalf, tomake full Allowance unto the saidEarls, Thomas Starkie, &c. their De-puties or Assigns, of the one Moiety ofall and singular the Goods, Merchan-dizes and Things, whatsoever, men-tioned in these our present Letters Pa-tents, to be forfeited at any Time orTimes, during the said Term of twelveYears, which said Allowance We doftreightly charge, and command, fromTime to Time, to be made to the saidEarls, Thomas Starkie, &c. and to e-very of them, accordingly, withoutany Manner of Delay or Denial of anyof Our Officers, whatsoever, as theytender Our Favour, and the Furthe-rance of Our good Pleasure. And Wedo streightly charge and command, and,by these Presents, prohibit all and sin-gular Customers and Collectors of OurCustoms and Subsidies, and Comptrol-lers of the same, of, and within OurCity and Port of London, and all otherPorts, Creeks and Places, within this

Our Realm of England, and every ofthem, that they nor any of them takeor perceive, or cause, or suffer to betaken, received or perceived for Us,and in Our Name, or to Our Use, orto the Uses of our Heirs or Successorsof any Person or Persons, any Sum orSums of Mony, or other Things what-soever, during the said Term of twelveYears, for and in the Name and Lieuor Place of any Custom, Subsidy, andother Thing or Duties to Us, our Heirsor Successors, due or to be due, for theCustoms and Subsidies of any Merchan-dizes whatsoever, growing, being madeor coming out of the said Country ofBarbary, or out of the Dominionsthereof, nor make, cause, nor suffer tobe made any Entry into Our or theirBooks of Customs and Subsidies, normake any Agreements for the Subsidiesand Customs, of and for any the saidMerchants, saving, only with and inthe Name of the said Earls, ThomasStarkie, &c. or the most Part of them,as they, and every one of them, willanswer at their uttermost Perils to thecontrary. And for the better and morelure Observation of this Our Grant,‘Wewill and grant, for Us, Our Heirs andSuccessors, by these Presents, that theTreasurer and Barons of Our Exche-quer, for the Time being, by Force ofthis Our Grant or fnrolment thereof,in the said Court, at all and every Timeand Times, during the said Term oftwelve Years, at and upon the Requestmade unto them, by the said Eafls,Thomas Starkie, &c. or by the Attor-nies, Factors, Deputies or Assigns ofthem, or the most Part of them thenliving and trading, shall and may,make and direct, under the Seal of thesaid Exchequer, one or more sufficientWrit or Writs, Close or Patents, untoevery or any of Our said Customers,Collectors or Comptrollers, of OurHeirs and Successors, in all and every,or to any Port or Ports, Creek, Ha-ven, or other Places, within this OurRealm of England, as the said Earls,Thomas Starkie, &c. or any the Attor-nies, Factors, Deputies or Assigns ofthem, or the most Part of them, thenliving and trading, shall, at any Time,require, commanding and streightlycharging them and every of them, thatthey,. nor any of them, at any Timeor Times during the said Term oftwelve Years, make any Entry of anyWares or Merchandizes, whatsoever,
