i o i. If it be the third year after bissextile,half a day backwards is the day of themonth for that year, opposite to which isthe fun’s place.
102. If the year in which you seek thefun’s place is bissextile, then three quartersof a day backwards is the day of the monthfrom the ist of January to the 28th dayof February inclusive. The intercalary,or 29th day, is three fourths of a day tothe left hand from the r st of March; andthe ist of March itself is one quarter of aday forward, from the division marked 1 ;and so for every day in the remaining partof the leap-year j against each of whichis found the fun’s place.
In this manner the intercalary day is verywell introduced every fourth year into thekalendar, and the fun’s place very nearlyobtained according to the Julian reckoning.Thus:
