Canal.
' For coal, cannel, stone, (except lime-stone) and other mi-nerals, not passing through any lock, one penny per ton per mile.
For the same pasting through any lock or locks, three half-pence per ton per mile.
For timber, goods, and other merchandise, not pastingthrough any lock, three halfpence per ton per mile.
For the same pasting through any lock or locks, two-penceper ton per mile.
Fractions to be taken as for a quarter of a mile, and as fora quarter of a ton.
The company are further authorised to receive for thewharfage of coal, lime, lime-stone, clay, iron, iron stone, tim-ber, stone, bricks, tile, state and gravel, one penny per ton; andfor the wharfage of other goods three-pence per ton, where thelame shall be respectively placed and remain upon any suchwharfs or quays, and shall not continue thereupon for a longerspace than six days; except coal, iron, and lime-stone, whichmay remain thereupon for six weeks; and timber, clay, lime,jron stone, bricks, tiles, stone, slate, or gravel, which may re-main thereupon for three weeks, for the said one penny per ton;but if any articles remain longer than the times above spe-cified, then to pay one penny per ton per day; except the delaylhall arise from frost, want of boats, want of water, or neglectof the company.
From the above rates and dues are exempted , stones, gravel,or sand, for repairing of any public roads, in any parishthrough which the said canal or cuts shall be made. Alsodung, soil, marie, ashes of coal and turf, or other manure (ex-cept lime) for the improvement only of the lands and groundsin any such parish. Also any material which shall be used in
