Wisbech
Canal.
For every five quarter of wheat, barley, mustard feed,hemp seed, .rape seed, line seed, rye, peas or beans, oneJhilltng andsix-pence.
For all other goods, &c. one filling per ton, and so in pro-portion.
’Exemption from Rates. Officers or soldiers on their march,with their horses, arms, baggage, &c. timber or other storesfor the use of his Majesty’s service; any materials belongingto, or for the use of the Corporation of Bedford Level, or anyof their works ; provided proper certificates be produced ; anystone, gravel, &c. for the purpose only os making or repairingthe Wisbech turnpike road, or any other public road in any pa-rish through which the canal shall pass. Husbandry boats alsomay be used by owners of adjoining lands, (not to carrylime or lime-stone) but not to pass any lock without payingthe customary rate of tonnage.
Boats under three tons lading to pay for that quantity, ifthere shall be water sufficient for that quantity.
Boatmen passing any locks, upon request, to have a ticketgratis, stating the quantity of tonnage, and the day paid; andif such boat shall pass empty, and return laden within twenty-one days, the tonnage therein expressed to be paid shall be de-ducted from such lading, &c. returning; or if any boat shallhave passed laden, then to be allowed thirty days, to pass freein. Boats laden with turf may pal's the lock at Outwell,paying only the amount of the tonnage, for such turf as shallbe in the boat, provided the same be not navigated beyondthe farm house of James Fisher.
