[The principal care of the Swiss husbandman is hisherd of cows, which are of a peculiar and excellent breed,and supply a large daily proportion of milk, yielding aquantity of cheese. These cows, pasturing among themountains, are supplied with bells, for their more readydiscovery. Large quantities of cheese are exported toEngland and other countries. It has been calculatedthat there are 800,000 cattle in Switzerland.—R.E.]
