The sermon followed; after which, the bilhopconsecrated and administered the sacrament in thefollowing manner.

As he apprbached the communion-table, hemade many lowly reverences : And coming upto that part of the table where the bread andwine lay , he bowed seven times. After thereading of many prayers, he approached the sa-cramental elements , and gently lifted up thecorner of the napkin , in which the bread wasplaced. When he beheld the bread, he suddenlylet fall the napkin , flew back a step or two,bowed three several times towards the bread;then he drew nigh again, opened the napkin,and bowed as before.

Next, he laid his hand on the cup, whichhad a cover upon it, and was filled with wine.He let go the cup, fell back, and bowed thricetoward it. He approached again; and lifting upthe cover, peeped into the cup. Seeing thewine, he let fall the cover, started back , andbowed as before. Then he received the sacra-ment, and gave it to others. And many prayersbeing said, the solemnity of the consecration,ended. The walls and floor and roof of the fabricwere then supposed to be sufficiently holy
