A Promontory is a high Part of Landur y- stretching out into the Sea; and is oftencalled a Cape or Headland: Such is the Cafeof Good Hope, in the South of Africa:Cape Finistre, on the West of Spain ; alsothe Lizard Point, and the Lands End, aretwo Capes or Headlands on the West ofMountain. England. A Mountain is a high Part ofLand in the Midst of a Country, over-top-ing the adjacent Parts.

a coast or 14 . A Coast or Shore is that Part of Landshore which borders upon the Sea, whether it bein I stands or a Continent: And that Part ofthe Land which is far distant from the Sea,inland, is called the Inland Country. These are theusual Distinctions of the Land.

The Water is distinguished into Ocean :,Seas, Lakes, Gulfs, Streights, and Rivers.The ocean 15. The Ocean or Main-Sea, is a vastspreading Collection of Water, not dividedor separated by Lands running between:Such is the Atlantick or Western Ocean ,between Europe and America ; the PacifickOcean or South Sea, &c.
