V V (and were the Endeavours of its worthy Inha-bitants equal to their Power, Merit, and Virtue, Ishould not stick to denounce it, in a (hort Time, theMetropolis of the whole World ;) Whereas, I fay, thisCity (as most great ones are) has ever been insetted witha numerous Company of such, whose arrogant Confi-dence, backed with their Ignorance, has enabled themto impose upon the People, either by premeditatedCheats, or, at best, the palpable, dull, and emptyMistakes of their sclf-deluded Imagination in Physic,Chymical and Galenic; in Astrology, Physiognomy,Palmestry, Mathematicks, Alchymy, and even in Go-vernment itself, the last of which, I will not propose todiscourse of or meddle at all in, since it no Way belongsto my Trade or Vocation, as the rest do; which (Thanksto my God) I find much more safe, I think equallyhonest, and therefore mere profitable.
