The World (hall celebrate thy Fame,
And Feasts be call’d by thy dear Name jWith Hyacinth Heav’n (hall resound,
White Echoes catch the charming Sound.
The fatal Loss, thus fad Arouo mourn’d,
Of the fair Boy, for whom so much he burn’d.
W o m A n ’s Usurpation.
W Oman was made Man’s Sov’rei^nly to own,And He, as Monarch, was to rule alone ;
She was his Vassal made, to fear and dreadThe angry Frowns of Man, her Lord and Head.Heav’n did to him the Pow’r delegate,
O’er all the Universe he made him Great iHis Power did the largest Scepter sway,
The whole Creation did his Laws obey.
No Limits e’er were set to his Commands,
Tygers and Lions lick’d his sacred Hands,
And savage Monsters glory’d in his Bands.
The Legistative Pow’r was six’d in him,
Just Man ! till Woman tempted him to Sin.
The Sun no sooner had begun his Course,
Spreading his gaudy Beams o’er the’ Universe ;
Nature herself was hardly full awake jThe Planets did their Motions rarely make;
The azure Orb, in which is finely setThe glitt’ring Stars, scarce knew their Architect :
Air, Water, Earth and Fire, did hardly findThemselves pure Elements, and were inclin’dTo mix in Composition of each Kind ;
*Man scarce had seen the first resplendent Light,
E’er Woman brought forth everlasting Night;
